I love painting birds because of the enormous diversity within the bird kingdom. I am completely captivated by the wealth of color and patterns of the markings on so many different species. The years I spent creating enameled jewelry has carried over into the enjoyment I find in concentrating on the fine details. The quality of transparency inherent to watercolors, as well as enamels, allows me to paint multiple layers to slowly build the colors and textures I want for each bird.
